Today in the History of Chemistry…

NASA landed the car-sized "Curiosity" rover on Mars on this day in 2012. The vehicle arrived at the Red Planet after 36 weeks of flight for two years of research. “Curiosity” uses its onboard Chemistry Laboratory (CHEMIN) to determine and measure the abundance of various minerals (which it drilled from rocks and collected from the ground) to see if there really is life on Mars.
