The first well will be drilled soon to search for shale oil in Diyarbakir. Stating that their work is progressing rapidly, Shell Turkey Country President Ahmet Erdem said, “The infrastructure has been completed. The campus of the tower that will carry out the transaction has been established. We are opening our first well soon.”
According to Sabah's report, Erdem said, “Our work on shale oil exploration in Diyarbakir is progressing rapidly. Soon we will drill our first well. Infrastructure works on the field have been completed. The campus of the tower that will carry out the transaction has been established. We signed two important agreements in 2012. If the investments we will make in the coming years, especially in oil exploration production, go as planned, an investment of more than a few hundred million dollars is in question in 3-4 years. We are conducting a deep sea survey in Turkish territorial waters on the western side of the Mediterranean. We operate in an area where no research well has been drilled before. We are in the process of evaluating the seismic data from there.” he said.
