Swiss World Giant ABB Company Established a Control and Automation Laboratory at Gediz University. Gediz University received another important support from the business world. Control and Automation Laboratory was established with the contribution of one of the world giants, Switzerland-based international company ABB. Engineering students who will receive practical training here will take a step ahead in business life.
Gediz University, which was founded in 2008 by education volunteers from Izmir, including industrialists and businessmen, adds to its strength with donations. An important support came from ABB, one of the world's giants in the field of energy and automation technologies, and its partner company Vins Industry. The Swiss-based international firm donated 10 high-tech training sets to the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. With this support, Control and Automation Laboratory was established, Laboratory Rector Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Çevik was opened with a ceremony by Erdinç Karataş, ABB Turkey PLC and Automation Sales Manager, and Güray Wide, General Manager of Vins Industry. Speaking at the ceremony, Rector Çevik said that mainly Electrical and Electronics Engineering students will receive practical training here. Stating that they have grown with the support of many segments of society, especially the business world, he said, “We would like to thank ABB and Vins Industry companies. The most valuable contribution to this country and humanity can only be through education. We would like to express our gratitude to the education volunteers who did not leave us alone and did not spare their support on the way we started with this thought. With these donations, Gediz University will become one of the most respected scientific institutions in the world.” said.
Karataş, one of the Turkey managers of ABB, also stated that they attach great importance to industry-university cooperation and that they try to support education at every opportunity: “As industrial organizations, we need qualified workforce. We believe that thanks to this high-tech laboratory, better equipped engineers will be trained from Gediz University. These young people will be one step ahead in their professional lives and will add value to the institutions they will work for.”
