According to the written statement made by TÜBİTAK, applications for the 2014 TÜBİTAK Science, Special and Encouragement Awards, which are given to successful scientists at a ceremony held in Çankaya Mansion every year, have started. The awards will be given in 4 different categories: Science, Special and Incentive, and TÜBİTAK-TWAS (Sciences for the Developing World) Encouragement Award. For applications that will continue until Tuesday, December 31, 2013, scientists will send the candidate forms and other required documents to the TUBITAK Scientific Committee secretariat unit by courier or mail.
The awards will be given to scientists who work in the fields of basic sciences, engineering sciences, health sciences, and social and human sciences.
TÜBİTAK Science, Special and Incentive Awards and TÜBİTAK-TWAS Encouragement Award will find their owners at a ceremony held in Çankaya Mansion under the auspices of President Abdullah Gül. The scientists who will receive their awards from President Gül will be given money, gold or silver plaques, award certificates, and an amount of support determined by the scientific committee to use them in research.
Who are the awards given to?
The science award is given to those who make significant contributions to science at the international level with their studies in Turkey, the special award is given to the citizens of the Republic of Turkey who contribute to science at an international level with their studies abroad as the equivalent of a science award, and the incentive award is given to those who have the qualifications to make significant contributions to science at an international level in the future. On the first day of the year, it will be given to those residing in Turkey who have not passed the age of 40.
The TÜBİTAK-TWAS Encouragement Award is given alternately over the years in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology to scientists residing in Turkey, who have proven that they have the qualifications to make significant contributions to science at an international level in the future, and who are not more than 40 years old on the first day of the year the award is given.
The fields and numbers of the 2013 Science Awards were announced on July 24 and it was decided to give 2 science awards, 2 special awards, 11 incentive awards and 1 TÜBİTAK-TWAS incentive award. The awards will find their owners at the ceremony to be held at the Villa in December.
