2,5 million TL Support for Stem Cell Studies by TUBITAK. Government support came to stem cell studies, which are shown as hope for diseases with low chance of cure, especially cancer.
Cellular Therapy Association President Prof. Dr. Osman İlhan said that stem cell research, which is shown as a hope in the treatment of many diseases in the future, especially cancer, diabetes and neurological diseases, will be supported by TÜBİTAK.
Emphasizing that the development of such studies is of great importance, İlhan said, “Although it is shown as hope for many diseases, there is not enough research on this subject. TÜBİTAK has announced that it will support stem cell studies by calling scientists on a very important issue. The way has been cleared for those who could not do research on this subject due to reasons such as insufficient infrastructure and personnel. TÜBİTAK will provide support for stem cell studies up to 2,5 million liras.
Emphasizing that the requirement for the production of stem cells to be used in accepted projects in centers licensed by the Ministry of Health is of great importance in terms of patient safety, İlhan said, "This way, it will be known what kind of stem cells are used in the patient."
Noting that Turkey is one of the leading countries in the field of hematology-oncology, Prof. Dr. İlhan stated that with the support of stem cell studies, great progress will be made in this area as well.

In the call text of TÜBİTAK to the scientific world, it was stated that the scientific and technological potential should be mobilized for the development and production of cellular therapy products.
It was noted that with the call, an important support environment will be provided to the project owners in the development of cellular therapy methods, which are both applied in the world and are not yet included in the field of application, but have shown many healing effects in the country.
Within the scope of the program, it was reported that clinical studies on humans will be supported, as well as animal experiments and research on the development of reparative cells.
