An introductory meeting of the responsible science projects of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was held.

An introductory meeting of the responsible science projects of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University was held. Dr. Sedat Laciner, in his speech at the meeting where the projects of the faculties of science, literature and agriculture were introduced, said that the most powerful human resource in the city is in ÇOMÜ, and that there are over 600 academics at the university.

Expressing that the university knows Çanakkale very well and is working on it, Laçiner said, “We have friends who study Kaz Mountains, Sarıçay, Çanakkale Strait, water quality and air. This is the university that did the Çanakkale Wars best not only in Turkey but in the world. It is our friends who are working on excavations in the region such as Troy and Assos," he said.

Pointing out that many resources, especially TÜBİTAK, finance the prepared projects, Laçiner said:

“We ranked 180th among 7 universities that received the most support from TÜBİTAK. Our academics are often able to finance their own projects with the studies they prepare, even without the support of ÇOMÜ. South Marmara Development Agency has given us serious support. We get their support with our small and medium-sized projects. We always look forward to the agency's support. We also cooperate with our Special Provincial Administration in a way that will set an example in Turkey. I believe that Çanakkale has more human resources than mineral resources. We are also very excited about the works of 2015. We hope that we will make an important contribution to completing the deficiencies and infrastructures of Çanakkale.”

Governor Ahmet Çınar, on the other hand, noted that the organization and the presentations made him very excited and that the projects should proceed with concrete steps from now on.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Assembly President Ali Rıza Tekin, vice-rectors Prof. Dr. Ramazan Gülendam, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Özdemir, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Erdem, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Feyzi Uğur, representatives of the South Marmara Development Agency, academics and representatives of various institutions and organizations attended.
