The Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs has taken action for truffles, which find buyers up to 2 thousand Euros in the world food and cosmetics markets. Action was taken for the truffle, which found buyers up to 2 thousand Euros. The General Directorate of Forestry prepared an action plan. 3 thousand 480 people will be trained on truffle cultivation. Truffle Forest Action Plan to be implemented between 2014 and 2018 was prepared as a result of the works carried out by the General Directorate of Forestry together with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in order to bring the truffle grown under the ground to the national economy. Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu stated that natural truffle areas will be identified and transformed into 'Natural Truffle Forest', and 'Artificial Truffle Forests' will be established in suitable forest areas. In this context, Minister Veysel Eroğlu emphasized that with the action plan to be implemented in 16 provinces, an artificial truffle forest will be created on an area of 238 hectares; “As part of the action plan, 17 gene-purpose gardens will be created. By obtaining seeds from these gene-purpose gardens, this mushroom variety will be made more common. On the other hand, within the framework of the action plan, which has an investment value of 2 million 416 thousand liras, 3 thousand 480 people will be trained on truffle cultivation.” Stating that with the implementation of the action plan, the truffle species that grow naturally in Turkey will be determined, their geographical distribution and mapping will be done, Minister Eroğlu said, "Truffle picking course will be given to the volunteers, and this biological richness will be better protected by preventing the random collection of truffles."

With the implementation of the Action Plan, the collection of natural truffle species as a Non-Wood Forest Product, the creation and promotion of the truffle market, and the increase in private afforestation will provide new employment areas and new income sources to the rural areas. Truffle, which is one of the underground treasures in Turkey, has a privileged place in culinary cultures since ancient times due to its smell and unique aroma. It is also preferred in the perfumery industry. Although the amount of truffles collected from natural forest areas in the world is decreasing day by day, prices are also increasing due to the increasing demand. Truffle mushroom is used in a wide range of products from food to cosmetics all over the world, especially in Europe and America, while its weight finds buyers up to 2 thousand Euros in Europe.
