Students studying at the Grain Products Management Technologies Application and Research Laboratory opened within the scope of the Faculty of Food Engineering of Hitit University, provide the daily bread needs of the university from here.
Hitit University Faculty of Food Engineering has recently opened the Grain Products Processing Technologies Application and Research Laboratory in order to develop the R&D studies of grain products production technologies.
Grain Products Business Technologies Application and Research Laboratory Coordinator Assist. Assoc. Dr. Seçil Türksoy, together with Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan introduced the bread production unit of the laboratory, which was put into service in June.
Underlining that the aim of the activities carried out within the Faculty of Food Engineering is to enable students to learn by observing, Türksoy stated that in this case, both the learning skills of the students increase and the bread need of the university is met.
Emphasizing that 10 thousand breads are produced in the laboratory, which has a daily production capacity of 3 thousand breads, Türksoy said, “There are two types of bread, white and whole wheat flour, produced within the unit. Our laboratory has the highest grades of all technical features. The breads produced are packaged untouched and offered for consumption.
Hittite University Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan, on the other hand, said that they are rapidly progressing towards becoming one of the world's universities, and that they share different developments that make an impact every day with the public.
Emphasizing that the bread production unit enables students to take part in production as well as improving their learning, Alkan said, “Our production unit, which has all technological innovations, meets the bread needs of our university. Such studies are of great importance both for the development of R&D studies and for our students to increase their own characteristics. I would like to thank all my friends who contributed," he said.
