Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) Faculty of Veterinary Faculty lecturers, TÜBİTAK-supported research on 440 mice revealed that buffalo yogurt significantly reduces the risk of colon and rectal (colorectal) cancer.

Within the scope of the research, it was emphasized that a study was conducted on 8 440-week-old male mice, and it was determined that taking probiotic yogurt and kefir before cancer occurs, or at least during the period of exposure to carcinogens, reduces the risk of cancer.

In the studies, it was concluded that the product prepared with buffalo yoghurt and L.rhamnosus had a more significant anti-tumor and anti-tumor effect than the others. This may be due to the fact that the consistency, freezing and melting points and iodine number of buffalo oils are quite different from cow's milk, since the ratio of saturated fatty acids is higher in the composition of milk fat. This product is an important animal product because it contains very high levels of some essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. In future studies, the mechanism of action will be clarified by examining buffalo yogurt in vitro conditions at the cell level and molecular effects.
