OYAK has bought all the shares of Chemson AG, the Chemistry giant of Austria. OYAK Group acquired all shares of Austria-based Chemson AG, which produces polymer additives used in the manufacture of PVC-based window and building profiles, pipes, injection products, cable insulation and soft surface coatings.
In the statement made by OYAK, reminding that the group also bought Akdeniz Kimya, which operates in the same fields, at the end of 2012, “OYAK, Akdeniz Kimya and Chemson AG companies and PVC stabilizers, which have an important place among polymer additives and are indispensable in the production of PVC products. It has reached the position of the world leader in its field”.
The statement did not include information on the purchase price.
In addition to its facilities in Austria, Chemson has production facilities in the UK, USA, Brazil, China and Australia and sales offices in Germany, the Netherlands and Singapore.
OYAK still provides direct employment to 35,000 people with its industrial portfolio and service companies, mainly in automotive, iron and steel, cement and energy.
PVC GIANT OF AUSTRIA
Chemson is among the largest PVC producers in Austria. According to the information on the company's website, Chemson, which has 257 employees, has an annual turnover of 200 million Euros. Apart from Australia, the company operates in Brazil, China, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA. The company was formed in 1986 by the merger of the Chemetall and Cookson companies.
