Chemistry, plastic and pharmaceutical industries are at the forefront of the business lines where employment has decreased in the last 1 year.

The number of workers in the trade, office, education and fine arts business line increased by 37 thousand 247, while the number of workers in the energy business line increased by 35 thousand 903. In the last 1 year, the sector in which employment has increased the most was energy, with a rate of approximately 16 percent.
In the same period, the sector in which employment decreased the most was petroleum, chemistry, rubber, plastic and medicine with a rate of approximately 10 percent. The number of workers in the construction business line decreased to 98 thousand 287, the number of workers in the accommodation and entertainment business decreased to 65 thousand 665, and the number of workers in the petroleum, chemical, rubber, plastic and pharmaceutical business line decreased to 48 thousand 529.

In the 2013-year period between January 2014 and January 1, the number of registered workers in Turkey increased by 718 thousand 939. The annual rate of increase in the number of workers corresponded to 6,6 percent. Thus, the number of workers reached 11 million 600 thousand 554.
In the said period, the sector in which the employment of workers increased the most was energy. The number of workers working in the energy sector increased by about 1 percent in 16 year. The number of workers working in the sector increased by 35 thousand 903 and reached 263 thousand 853 with the contribution of the new electricity generation facilities that came into operation in the energy sector last year.

Making an assessment to the Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter regarding the energy sector's position in the first place in employment increase, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız drew attention to the fact that 2013 was the year in which the highest installed capacity of energy was put into use in a year for Turkey.

Stating that approximately 7 megawatts of electricity generation facilities were put into operation last year, Yıldız said, “Energy investments are extremely important not only in terms of contributing to our supply security, but also in terms of their positive impact on employment. In addition to its locomotive power in our country's economy, the energy sector has undertaken an important task with its impact on the number of workers.

– Banks and security companies continued to recruit
Banking, finance and insurance were the second business lines in which the rate of workers increased the most. The number of workers in this line of business increased by about 1 percent in a year. The number of workers in the banking, finance and insurance business line increased by 8 thousand 21 and reached 407 thousand 288.

It drew attention with the increase in the employment of workers in defense and security. The number of workers in the sector has increased by 6,61 percent in the last year. The number of workers in defense and security increased to 12 with 516 thousand 201 additions.
Wood and paper became one of the business lines in which the employment of workers increased. The number of workers working in jobs within this scope increased by 1 in the 8-year period. The number of workers working in the wood and paper industry reached 745 with an increase of 3,75 percent.
The trade, office, education and fine arts business lines, which employ the highest number of workers, also continued to grow. The number of workers working in this line of business has increased by 1 percent in the last 1,6 year. The number of workers working in the trade, office, education and fine arts business line, which contributed 37 to employment, reached 247 million 2 thousand 368.

– The number of workers in construction decreased by about 100 thousand
In the said period, the sector in which employment decreased the most was petroleum, chemistry, rubber, plastic and medicine with a rate of approximately 10,32 percent. The number of workers in the business line, which was 470 thousand 178 in January of last year, decreased by 1 thousand 48 in 529 year to 421 thousand 649.

The number of workers in the accommodation and entertainment business line decreased by 8,5 percent in the same period. While the number of workers in the business line decreased by 65 thousand 665 in one year, the total number of workers became 707 thousand 24.
The construction business line was the business line where the number of workers decreased the most. In the last year, the number of workers working in construction works has decreased to 98. The decrease in the number of workers in the business line corresponded to 287 percent. Thus, the number of construction workers, which was 5,92 million 1 thousand 660 in January last year, decreased to 842 million 1 thousand 562.
