The dramatic changes in the industrial environment brought about by the development of AI (artificial intelligence, big data and IoT (Internet of Things)) make it difficult for individual manufacturers to engage in fundamental research to catch up with innovations in their products to ensure international competitiveness.

Additionally, chemical companies share medium- and long-term issues that are difficult to tackle alone.

The aim of the MOP is to facilitate broad collaboration in the chemical industry to enable the development of key technologies.

The platform also encourages bilateral cooperation between companies to support Japan's global competitiveness. The parties announced that they expect the polymer materials to further improve their performance in the current financial year under the MOP contract. To achieve this, they will gather a common knowledge of various aspects of polymer materials such as their structure, physical properties and changes. They will also analyze the data using material information.
