Farthest Star Earendel

This detailed view highlights the position of the star Earendel along a fluctuation in space-time (dotted line), which magnifies it and makes it possible to detect the star from such a great distance (about 13 billion light-years). A projected star cluster is also indicated on either side of the magnification line. The distortion and magnification are created by the mass of a massive galaxy cluster located between Hubble and Earendel. The mass of the galaxy cluster is so great that it distorts the fabric of space, and looking into that space is like looking through a magnifying glass:
