Third Clinical Trial Case Linked to Alzheimer's Drug

Third Clinical Trial Case Linked to Alzheimer's Medicine – Medical records were given to Science by one of the Florida woman's daughters, and others were allowed to review them. To protect family privacy, Science is withholding the names of the patient, her daughter, a friend who assisted the mother during the study, and the clinical trial facility where the patient received lecanemab.

These MRI images show brain swelling in the cerebral cortex (the outer large part of the brain) of a Florida woman who died after taking the experimental Alzheimer's drug lecanemab. Before treatment with the antibody, scanning of the cerebral cortex (left) reveals the characteristic folds of the temporal lobes. Afterwards (right), excessive swelling made it impossible to distinguish these folds.
