Mars Most Likely Volcanically Alive

Mars Most Likely Volcanically Alive – An angle view of Cerberus Fossae on Mars' Elysium Planitia. It is a faulted and fractured area. Data was collected from the Mars Express orbiter operated by the European Space Agency on January 27, 2018. NASA's InSight instrument also started counting thousands of Mars earthquakes in this region that year. A recent study reveals that beneath the surface there is now a large mantle plume and hot molten rock (magma). Photograph ESA/ DLR/ FU Berlin (CC BY-SA 3.0 IGO).
