To Fusion Fuel by Component 5 (or “C-5”) of Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan to build a 1 Megawatt decentralized green hydrogen production facility and a hydrogen refueling station in Elvas, Portugal A grant of 3,6 million Euros was awarded.
Fusion Fuel's “Sines Green Hydrogen Valley Alliance” partnership received €5 million from C-36 funding.
This funding comes from a larger grant to the Moving13Neutrality Alliance, a group of 2 partners led by Petrogal, a Galp Group subsidiary, working to decarbonize commercial and industrial mobility by establishing centers for sustainable fuel production in Sines and other key Portuguese cities.
The Fusion Fuel project, to be created in collaboration with Galp, will be a starting point for exploring the concept of decentralized green hydrogen generation for mobility applications in Portugal and abroad. Elvas, where the facility will be built, has a strategic location on one of the important shipping routes between Portugal and Spain.
The project aims to use 400 MW capacity electrolysis to produce up to 1 kg of green hydrogen per day and achieve the purity and compression required for transport use. A hydrogen refueling station for both light and heavy commercial vehicles will also be integrated into the facility. Fusion Fuel expects to spend approximately 40 million Euros within the scope of the project, which includes producing green hydrogen and compressing it up to 7,2 bar pressure.
