Apple previewed iOS 17 for iPhone, and one of the important new features that came with the update was the improved auto-correction function.
Apple says that iOS 17 includes a state-of-the-art language model for word prediction that will greatly improve autocorrect on iPhone. Whenever you type, on-device machine learning will intelligently correct errors with greater accuracy than ever before. In addition, you will now get inline predictive text suggestions as you type, and tapping the space bar will allow words or full sentences to be added.
Autocorrect has an updated design that briefly underlines an autocorrect word in iOS 17. Tapping an underlined word reveals the original word you typed, making it easy to quickly undo the change. The system will also learn your typing habits over time, avoiding some of the corrections that Apple's head of software engineering Craig Federighi says is designed for "moments when you just want to type a word".
