Biogas Production from Animal Manure Begins.

Biogas Production from Animal Manure Begins. The “Turkish-German Biogas Project” initiated to generate energy from animal wastes will conclude in October. The “Turkish-German Biogas Project” initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to generate energy from animal waste will conclude in October.

With the biogas facilities, it is aimed to eliminate the pollution caused by waste on the one hand, and to produce energy (heat + electricity) and fertilizer that can be used in agriculture, on the other.

Ministry officials and German experts who visited the provinces of Afyonkarahisar, Amasya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bursa, Çorum, Istanbul (Silivri), İzmir, Konya, Kırklareli, Manisa and Tekirdağ completed their field visits.

TERSAKAN RIVER POLLUTION WILL BE REMOVED

The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, which is preparing to implement the project, prepared a pre-feasibility report together with German biogas experts. The aforementioned report offers a solution to eliminate the pollution in the Tersakan Stream with the biogas plant to be established in the Suluova district of Amasya province. Feasibility studies have been completed for the establishment of pilot plants in the selected regions.

SAMPLE SOWING APPLICATION IN BIGA AND GÖNEN

With the biogas calculation tool prepared within the scope of the project, before starting the construction of a biogas plant, the size, capacity, components and economy of the plant will be calculated using the basic data available.

The Ministry made a sample planting practice in Gönen and Biga with the aim of comparing the use of biogas fertilizer in agriculture and its results.

The ministry, which made soil analyzes of the selected fields in the region, also analyzed the fertilizers to be used and calculated the appropriate fertilizer rates.

Fertilization application consisting of biogas fertilizer, unprocessed farm manure, chemical fertilizer and their mixtures was applied to the pilot lands.

Positive results were obtained from tomatoes, peppers and corn harvested in 2013. Comparing the processed and unprocessed fertilizers, chemical fertilizers and biogas fertilizers, the experts observed that the biogas fertilizer was higher quality and more efficient.
