To use the translation feature is as simple as opening the camera app and pointing it at the text you want to translate. To get a quick translation, tap the text selection button in the app, select the detected text, and then select the translate option.
You can pause and zoom in to get a closer look at the translations superimposed on the text. It's a useful function when traveling and encountering signs or other languages you don't understand.

This new iOS 16 feature basically puts the iOS Camera app on par with Google's Comment option, where you can activate a camera in the app and translate text around you.

Apple has also added new Quick Actions to iOS that can be used with this Camera functionality alongside other Live Text alternatives.

Quick Actions allow you to act on images, videos, and data in the Camera app. Flight information, shipments, foreign languages, currencies, URLs and more can be tapped from photos and videos, allowing you to track packages, convert currencies, browse URLs and more.
