According to the statement made by Dow Turkey, 100 chemistry teachers working in schools in various districts of Istanbul came together with the cooperation of the Ministry of National Education, Dow Turkey and the Teachers Academy Foundation (ÖRAV).

The project, which aroused interest in the education community, was based on the fact that in the 21st century, the fields of science, chemistry, technology, engineering and mathematics provided the fastest and most widespread contribution to the development and growth of countries, and 100 chemistry teachers were brought together.

The two-day workshops opened with the speeches of İhsan Necipoğlu, General Manager of Dow Turkey and Central Asian Republics, and Kayhan Karlı, Founding General Manager of the Teachers Academy Foundation.

In his speech, Necipoğlu noted that up-to-date information integrated with technology is very important in the fields of chemistry and science in the 21st century. Drawing attention to the exam results in science and chemistry branches in Turkey, Necipoğlu said that Turkey ranks among the lowest among 33 OECD countries in science literacy.

For this reason, Necipoğlu stated that the interest in chemistry in Turkey should be raised higher, and emphasized that states should cooperate with the private sector, universities and non-governmental organizations in a long-term in order to make a difference with innovation and to maintain their competitive advantage.

Speaking on behalf of ÖRAV at the opening, Kayhan Karlı stated that an education system that enables young people to find jobs in a world that is rapidly urbanizing and consuming natural resources is the most urgent need of this century, and emphasized the importance of teaching science to children who will find and design a new life form in a way that can produce sustainable solutions that the world needs. mentioned.

In the event, teachers who learn creative science and chemistry education methods through practice will share their achievements with their students at their schools. In addition, they will be an incentive to establish a sustainable chemistry club where they can use these methods in their classrooms and implement them with their students.
